Meet Poppy, This little cutie was rescued from a Southern Ohio dog shelter after she was found wandering in a snow storm. Poppy is a red & white basset, estimated to be around 2-3 yrs old and weighs around 44lbs. She is petite, very loving and sweet. When she arrived in rescue her left eye was more than triple the normal size. Our vet felt it was from an earlier injury or a deformity that had worsened with age and not glaucoma which we had feared. They recommended immediate removal since the eye was giving her some discomfort.
It has been a few weeks now following her surgery and Poppy has been recovering in her foster home in Medina Ohio. Her foster family has had nothing but great things to say about her. Poppy is learning to play with the other young bassets in the home, loves her cuddle time and is learning manners like sit & stay to accept a treat. She knows to go to the door when she has to go potty, however will have an accident if you miss her cues. Poppy is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heart worm/flea-tick medications and microchipped. She will require another active playmate and fenced yard.
